13.55 – NAF Novices’ Hurdle – 2m5f
Nicky Henderson’s HANDS OFF clearly has his quirks, hence why he ran out last-time-out, but he still remains the one to beat based on his hurdles debut second at Ascot behind the classy Crambo. If he can repeat that effort in this line-up, and keep his eye on the job in hand, he should easily make amends for his latest mishap.
Tips: HANDS OFF
14.30 – Mary’s 70 Not Out Birthday Celebration Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – 2m
The David Pipe-trained MYRISTICA won three on the spin in this sphere prior to an excellent fourth in the Summer Hurdle when beaten under four lengths when last seen. Back down in grade, from the same mark, he should take some stopping off top-weight. FORGET THE WAY has improved with each start over hurdles and was only beaten two lengths last time.
Tips: MYRISTICA, FORGET THE WAY
15.05 – Paul Fergusons Jumpers To Follow Handicap Chase – 2m4f
STANS THE MAN was beaten a long way in the EBF Final at Sandown but only found one too good down in grade last time when second and has taken well to hurdles. He should be thereabouts, while HAAS BOY has place possibilities off this respective mark. He has yet to win a handicap of any sort but the assessor has given him a chance.
Tips: STANS THE MAN, HAAS BOY
15.40 – Hooky Gold Cup Handicap Hurdle – 2m5f
The best bet on the card is GWENNIE MAY BOY, who comfortably accounted for a subsequent winner when scoring for the first time in handicap company at Ludlow back in May. He hasn’t been seen since but this unexposed five-year-old has plenty more to come and can continue where he left off with a bold-winning performance from the front.
Tips: GWENNIE MAY BOY
16.15 – Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Handicap Chase – 2m
TIKKINTHEBOX has won over C&D in the past from a 9Ib higher mark and has been slightly unfortunate not to win one of his last two at starts. He was only beaten a neck at Stratford last time when conceding over a stone to the winner and, with this race looking no stronger, Jeremy Scott’s veteran is fancied to go one better.
16.50 – Molson Coors Handicap Hurdle – 3m1f
GOOD NEWS is a course winner, who is a couple of pounds below his last winning mark, and despite being below par when last seen, he has a great chance of bouncing back to form. I will also include BLAKENEY POINT who’s last win was off a 3Ib higher mark and is back on the same mark as when beaten a neck at Bangor last July. He is an outsider to consider.
Tips: GOOD NEWS, BLAKENEY POINT
