Ayr Place 6 preview | 2nd January

12.45 – Happy New Year From Ayr Racecourse Maiden Hurdle

ESPRIT DU POTIER won twice here in bumpers and has shaped well in both hurdle starts to take second. His record here reads 2112, and, with this longer trip sure to suit, he should be hard to beat and can get favourite backers off to a flyer.

Tips: ESPRIT DU POTIER

13.15 – Ayr Completes Juilia’s Racecourse Journey Handicap Hurdle

AMBUSH ANNIE could only finish a distant third on her handicap debut, but she should improve and is 1Ib lower for this poor race. She should go well at this level. FOLLOW CHARLIE was only beaten a couple of lengths when second on handicap debut here last time and is feared.

Tips: AMBUSH ANNIE, FOLLOW CHARLIE

13.45 – Jim ‘Havana’ McPherson Handicap Chase

MAROWN is generally consistent and again ran really well when second over C&D. He is sure to be competitive from an unchanged mark, while DORKING COCK was still going well when unseated in last month’s Becher Chase at Aintree and could bounce back.

Tips: MAROWN, DORKING COCK

14.15 – Ayrshire Wedding Show Novices’ Handicap Chase

BALLYCOOSE ran a nice race when second at the course last time out and should go close on his chase debut. His biggest danger is AUBIS WALK, who won over C&D on her chase debut last month and should have a lot more to come.

Tips: BALLYCOOSE, AUBIS WALK

14.45 – Golf Inn Prestwick Handicap Hurdle

WAKOOL won a Grade 2 race back in February, and although he has been winless since, this dual C&D winner should go well. AILIE ROSE ran well on her reappearance in Ireland when fourth in a Listed event and should be competitive with that run under her belt.

Tips: WAKOOL, AILIE ROSE

15.15 – Quiz Night At Golf Inn Prestwick Maiden Hurdle

JOSHUA DES FLOS should have too much for these, even with the likelihood that his future will certainly lie over further. He has made the frame in all five starts under rules, including twice over C&D over hurdles, and Daryl Jacob’s mount should be hard to beat.

Tips: JOSHUA DES DLOS
